Author!, Author?

5 10 2007

An old friend of mine has been talking for a while about how she wrote a book of 50,000 words in a month.  For Fun!  At first I thought she was crazy, then she began posting more about it and now it’s time to sign up for this year’s write a book in a month contest.  You win if you write your novel with at least 50.000 words in 30 days.  There’s no mandatory editing and the only person who really reads it is you.  It’s sponsored by the National Novel Writing Month or NaNoWriMo.org.

This sounds like a challenge that I might be up for.  I’m linking to Kblog so you can read more about this challenge from someone who’s actually completed the book.   I’m trying to think of all of the things that I could write about.  I want my book to be a total work of fiction and something that I’d enjoy writing about every day for a month.  That could include everything from faith to babysitting to Minnesota winters.  (Do we really need another Sven and Ole book?)  I still have a couple of weeks to think about what my plot lines will be.  As part of the contest, we are not allowed to begin writing until November 1st.  This will definitely try my patience!  And as K said, nobody has read the book that she wrote a couple of years ago, so I don’t know how my book (if I finish it) will turn out!

Suggestions are being accepted gratefully!!

As of today my brother B. has been deployed for 18 days.  His daughter Hailey turns 6 on Sunday.
