I wasn’t planning on staying up to watch the game tonight. My plan was to tape the game and first thing tomorrow (actually it would be this morning now that it’s 10 past midnight) watch the game without interruption. But after the first half inning when Beckett threw 3 straight strike outs and then in the bottom of the 1st Dustin Pedroia (the lead off batter) hits a home run. I’m HOOKED! And the game just got better and better and better.
For 2 reasons this game goes down in history. It’s the first time in the World Series history that in the first inning where the top half were all struck out and then in the bottom of the 1st the lead off batter hits a home run. The second piece of history of this game is that it is the largest margin of victory in a World Series. (12 run margin) The previous largest margin of victory was 11 games. This game truly was one for the record books!
