John Taylor???

23 09 2008

This little tidbit of information is of special relevance to one particular friend of mine.  We’ll see how they react :)

Did you know that there are actually TWO John Taylors who play guitar for famous bands?  (and to quote Comedian Craig Ferguson “I knowwwwww”)  What’s really weird is that I’ve seen one live in concert and one only on tv.  And the bands?  John Taylor (1) plays bass guitar for Duran Duran and John Taylor (2) plays backup guitar for The Jonas Brothers.

Given that the band of my teenage years was Duran Duran.  There were pictures of them in my school locker.  I even named a stuffed animal after John Taylor from Duran Duran.  So obviously I saw the John Taylor live with the Jonas Brothers.  That was Addie’s birthday present… tickets to see the Jonas Brothers.  It was quite an experience.

Unless you were sharing a locker with me (and I don’t think you were ill enough to do that, though I do remember the “grapes” you were creating), I do not recall that at any time you had Duran Duran pictures in your locker… in fact, you used to laugh at mine ;)

I take that back – if you shared a locker with Q before high school, that’d explain having DD posters in your locker. And I will vouch for John Lennon Leonard Taylor Lion, though you were not a big Duran Duran fan – admit it! You only put up with my fandom because I was very sickly obsessed and talked about little else (but then, what was there to talk about in the 8th grade?)…

But ANYHOW…

I find the Jonas brothers really creepy. Not that I’m in any way against folks who want to wait until marriage, but those that use it to advertise themselves in other ways always creep me out. I’m sure they’re very talented, but I’m not exactly a fan of boy bands :)

(And the guitarist thingie… well… it would have been much more impressive if there were, say, two unrelated guys in bands named Boutros Boutros-Ghali!!! John Taylor is such a boring, common name…)

In Jr. High I shared a locker with Jodie. She had the Duran Duran posters.
“Grapes”??- My mind must be going?
As for the Jonas Brothers- that was what Addie wanted for her Birthday. So I got to take her to her first concert. I said it was an experience… I had a headache from all the screaming. Sometimes the screams overshadowed the “music” :) I agree, from now only listening to bands with guitarists whose name is Boutros-Boutros-Ghali (let me know when the statesman starts a band!)

Well, there was that Colin Powell thing…

Oh, and the grapes? You had this experiment going to try to make raisins in your locker. At least that’s what you said! :)
