January 20, 2009- The Day That Changed The World

20 01 2009

I’m writing this as I watch the President of the United States of America, President Barack Obama, begin the parade from the Capitol to the White House.  What a morning!  I’m a little ticked off at Chief Justice John Roberts for majorly screwing up the official swearing in, but that’s ok, I’m ticked at John Roberts for a lot these days.

I cried a couple of times, because of the history of this day, I think.  I’m also so grateful that people like Georgia Congressman John Lewis was sitting right behind the President (ok tearing up again) to see this moment.  After being arrested and beaten during the 1960’s with Dr. King, Congressman Lewis has been my beacon of light and hope for quite some time. (again tearing up)

I’m going to go now to watch the parade.  And to Dr. King, I hope you know that there are many of us who are committed to making your dream possible.  We’re not quite there yet, but we’re going to keep on fighting and dreaming!

Jen and I just read your blog. You rock for a person your age. We totally agree and we both “cried” to but had no problem joining in on the “singing the praises!”
